Candy Canes? Fine. They're temporary and I couldn't care less that people have been stocking them, because they will dissapear eventually. But it is completely against GWs' philosophy to introduce consumable potions. The introduction of chest-keys was already a step too far, but energy and health giving items should not (and will not) become a part of this game.

I personally don't, and won't use them myself, I used one or two during the holiday period as they were a festive gift. I presumed they would be removed afterwards, as in most games they would be the equivalent to cheating. ANet couldn't fail to know they would be abused and farmed in massive numbers.

PvE isn't too challenging I agree. With candy canes it becomes a walkover, the few difficult missions like Thirsty River, THK, Ring of Fire areas become relatively simple affairs, the odd exception of failing to protect a mission critical NPC might set people back, but an item negating DP means many of those destined to fail, won't. To me, this causes a generation of players if you like, (up until cane supply has drastically fallen) who become dependant on never having to worry about DP. Candy Canes just create a PvE game where it becomes almost impossible to fail, the reality of life is that not everybody wins.

Ask yourself if you want people running around without a clue in PvE ruining your experience because they won't learn from their mistakes. Not because they don't want to, but because for the meanwhile, candy canes mean they don't have to.

I stress, using them doesn't mean you have no skill I never claimed as such, and this was not the origional intent of my post.

Wow....you take gaming far too seriously. Destined to fail? The reality of life is that not everybody wins? I thought we were talking about a video game here. Where people play for FUN.

And before you accuse me of being dependant on candy canes, I've only used one once to see what it did and I hardly ever PVE anymore since I'm mostly a PvP player nowadays.

I do share the same concern that people will get even worse at the game but you have got to lighten up a bit. A bad player will be a bad player with or without candy canes....either way I avoid bad players.

Players behind characters have lives, in life not everyone is a winner. Also, is not the outcome of most, if not all? Games to either win or lose? Here we have winning, and deferred success by candy canes . Perhaps destined is a rather grandiose word, true, but I stick to what I said, some people are just going to keep failing, one look at THK-D1 will tell you that.

I'm a big anti "nerf" canadian living in the states. I'd say the "get tough or get out you wimp" american attitude is rubbing off on me. But seriously, if using a candy cane is making PvE cheap, then stand before the mighty lv20 ice golem in your boxers and no weapons... oh and no candy canes. Fight on I say... as I am offended by your exposure and hope you die out there (all said with comedic sarcasm)

Sounds to me like the only people that are complaining are the one's that are jealous of the people who did farm them before the patch. Now they are being sold at quite a profit and some people are upset that they didn't think of the idea first. I guess your only way to get any attention is to create a thread about hoping Anet will take them away from those that spent so many hours farming them before the patch.

The Ghost in a Box at Halloween also had some good effects for Necromancers but a lot of people never knew it. Now the same with Candy Canes and people are crying about it now that's its all over. They will eventually be used up and dissapear, its no big deal.

Unfortunantly its true, usually not someones own fault but another player not doing their job. So in that respect Candy comes in handy.

I play both PvP and PvE, both are challenging in their own ways. Both require some strategy (PVP more, duh). LoL, i wouldnt flame PvEers though, if you wanna flame PvE talk to Anet, im sure they can hand you a nice closed account.
Seriously guys, Candy canes, I dont even worry about the obsession with them. I use them occasionally because of accidents and/or mstakes by other new players unknowledgeble about the game. However, i do share the annoyment of people spaming "WTS CANDY CANE 1k". For all you candy sellers, why dont you wait till someone wants to buy them, maybe then you wont spend 5 hours selling your 9, 250 each candy cane stacks and only making a mere 50k. I could triple that amount in 2 hours, easy.

Even the best die and I'm sure they wish there was a way to just make that DP vanish. Now there is for a limited time only. These items will be gone. Its a shame you never collected a pile and can't sell them like the rest. Whats the going rate? 500-100g a piece? The smart get rich is all i have to say. CC was a good idea. I rather like it.

...actually, I can think of some cool quests via an easter egg hunt. kind of sad Anet isn't going to do anything for easter...

guess the whole pc religious movement has forever changed how the US looks at these days.

Bitch moan complain.

I've got about 1000 hours logged, made MANY characters, beaten the game numerous times, and enjoy pvp in CA. I still die in PvE some times. Shit happens. I like having candy canes on hand to undo that.

This is like the 4th thread I've seen today (not made, but in the recent posts listing) about candy canes. Get off it already.
